William J. Sandbrook is Chairman and Co-CEO
of the Andretti Acquisition Corp.
Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of U.S. Concrete, Inc., until his retirement from those roles in early 2020.
Mr. Sandbrook is a 1979 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in management he spent thirteen years in the U.S. Army, including included a four-year tour in Germany in cavalry and engineering units, three years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Military Academy and two years as the Army Program representative to Raytheon.
While teaching at West Point, Bill also served as a social aide to President Ronald Reagan and earned his Professional Engineer’s License (PE) in Industrial Engineering. In addition to his qualifications as an Army Ranger, Bill earned four Master’s Degrees while in the service.
Bill joined Tilcon New York as Vice President in 1992 and became President and CEO three years later. Tilcon was acquired by Oldcastle Materials in 1996; Bill was appointed President of Oldcastle Materials’ West Division in 2003. He held a number positions at Oldcastle Materials before being Bill was chosen to be the President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Concrete in August 2011. Bill retired as CEO from U.S. Concrete in April 2020 and served as U.S. Concrete’s Chairman of the Board of Directors from May 2018 until May 2020.
Bill’s professional awards and recognition include the Lifetime Achievement Award by the New Jersey Concrete and Aggregate Association, the William B. Allen Award from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and induction into the Pit & Quarry Magazine’s Hall of Fame. In May 2018, he joined the Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (NYSE: FIX) Board of Directors and sits on both its Audit and Compensation Committees. Bill is a Past Chairman of the National Ready-Mixed Concrete Association.
