GEORGE RIGGINS

George Riggins is currently the CTO for Public Sector Technology at Verizon. In this role, he leads the development and enablement of forward-looking technologies used to benefit our Nation’s warfighters and first responders.

Prior to this role, George was the Vice President of East Engineering where he led the teams responsible for engineering America’s best Wireless network in the eastern half of the United States.  In this role, he led the deployment of the world’s first commercial 5G network. Additionally, his team engineered the advanced fiber-optic network supporting Verizon’s Intelligent Edge Network, and Verizon Fios, the nation’s largest residential fiber broadband service.

After having served in the United States Army as an Attack Helicopter Pilot, Company Commander, and War Planner, Mr. Riggins joined Verizon (then Bell Atlantic) as a Central Office Engineer. Throughout his tenure at Verizon, George led numerous teams instrumental in enhancing the way humans communicate through the engineering and deployment of the first home broadband networks and modernizing the global IP networks serving over 99% of the fortune 500 companies and government institutions.

Mr. Riggins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and General Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University.
